The information below helps Rabbi Mendelsohn understand your Jewish background and previous marital status and prepare for the wedding ceremony.
Information and Documents Required
Please be prepared to provide the following:
1. Hebrew Names
The Hebrew name of the bride and groom, along with the Hebrew names of both parents.
2. Jewish Background
Information about each person's Jewish background, including the Jewish status of the mother and any conversion history, if applicable.
3. Previous Marriages
If either the bride or groom has been married previously, please provide information regarding the previous marriage and the applicable documentation, such as divorce or death records and a Get, when applicable.
4. Verification of Jewish Status
Depending on your individual circumstances, Rabbi Mendelsohn may request additional documentation or information to establish Jewish status. This may include family records, a parent's Ketubah, or other documentation or testimony.
Rabbi Mendelsohn will let you know what is needed based on your circumstances.
5. Wedding Information
Please provide the proposed wedding date, location, and other relevant details about the ceremony.
Confidentiality
All information provided as part of the marriage application is treated as confidential and is used for the purpose of preparing for the Jewish wedding and establishing the necessary Jewish status and personal details.
After You Submit the Application
After receiving the completed applications and reviewing the information, Rabbi Mendelsohn will be in touch with the bride and groom to discuss the next steps.
He will review the details of the Jewish wedding ceremony, the Ketubah, witnesses, the wedding ring, and other aspects of the ceremony with you.
If additional information or documentation is needed, he will discuss that with you directly.
